5 best bits of The Five Valleys Sportive...

We take a look at our five favourite parts of the Five Valleys Sportive to get you excited for Wales premier sportive in aid of Prostate Cymru.

  1. Rhigos Climb- As close to the Alps as you can get in Wales, this beautiful climb has an average gradient of 5.6% and stretches for 3 miles. The climb features two tight hairpins with a scenic lakeside view, as well as lovely smooth roads. (Long route only)

2. Bwlch Climb- The highest tarmacked pass in Wales, and has been compared to Mount Ventoux. The climb has a height gain of 385 metres and is known for its steepness. Nick-named the hell-fire pass by the English.

3. Pont Rhyd Y Fen Aqueduct- The ride through the town will offer cyclists fantastic views of the 19th century aqueduct, famed for images of Richard Burton crossing it in the 1950s.

4. The views of the Afan Valley- An area world famous for it’s mountain biking, the Valley will offer stunning scenery before you enter the town of Port Talbot.

5. The Finish Line- The sight every cyclist will want to see after a challenging day in the saddle. Nothing will beat the feeling of pride as you cross the finish line and take time to look back on your fantastic achievement.
